North Branch is a village in Lapeer County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,027 at the 2000 census. The village is located within North Branch Township.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.4 km2), all land.
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,027 people, 403 households, and 261 families residing in the village. The population density was 804.6 per square mile (309.8/km²). There were 431 housing units at an average density of 337.7 per square mile (130.0/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.66% White, 0.19% African American, 0.29% Native American, 0.19% Asian, 0.39% from other races, and 1.27% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.24% of the population.
There were 403 households out of which 34.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.4% were married couples living together, 15.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.0% were non-families. 32.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.18.
In the village the population was spread out with 29.2% under the age of 18, 11.5% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 17.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 85.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.8 males.
